Local Motocycle Enthusiasts Make a Donation
A group of local motorcycle enthusiasts in the Clarenville Area has recognized the work of the Clarenville Area SPCA in response to the needs demonstrated by the continued dog problem encountered in Labrador.
In conjunction with the Happy Valley-Goose Bay SPCA, the Clarenville Area SPCA has been providing shelter to puppies that need homes if we have room available at our shelter.
Since the Fall of 2011, the Clarenville Area SPCA assisted in finding homes for 32 puppies from Labrador and our continued relationship with the HVGB SPCA allows us to continue to help while we have capacity to do so.
This group of local motorcyclists recognized that such actions cannot continue without financial support and provided a donation valued at $645.45 to assist with this initiative. Thank you!
The SPCA is grateful for the community support. Together we can make a difference in animal welfare issues in the province.
Shown in picture from far left, motorcycle enthusiasts Leon Porter, Paulette Porter, Vanda Dove (President, SPCA), Karen Osmond and Clyde Osmond. Missing from photo is Gary Gosse and Shirley Gosse.
Also shown in picture are 4 of our current Labrador puppies who are seeking their forever homes.

Certificate of Appreciation
The continued support that the Clarenville Area SPCA has received from staff of The Packet in the weekly Animals for Adoption is invaluable. We often hear people comment, The cat/dog I saw in The Packet this week… when they come to visit and often adopt.
For the past two years they have featured the shelter in their newspaper during the Christmas season and over the years they have featured stories of animal abuse and good news stories. These help to educate the public on proper animal care.
By offering the Community Calendar and Community Hero’s sections it has allowed the SPCA to highlight our fundraisers and our supporters.
The Packet staff and the Clarenville Area SPCA have been working together for over 20 years and we look forward to a successful partnership for many years to come!
Pictured accepting the certificate on behalf of The Packet staff is Kathy Gosse. Also pictured is Vanda Dove, President of the Clarenville Area SPCA and Mr. Bean. Mr. Bean is a lovely affectionate tom cat currently living at the shelter and seeking a forever home.

New Dogs Beds For the Shelter
A couple of months ago, a wonderful animal lover, Mrs. Jackie Frye, passed away and her family chose the Clarenville Area SPCA as their charity for donations in her memory.
Through the generosity of her family and friends, we were able to go to our wish list to choose a major purchase in Jackie’s memory.
Recently we received 12 PERLA Dog Beds, one for each inside kennel, that were purchased from the donations received.
We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the Frye family who have allowed us to make our dogs more comfortable.
Roxy is pictured trying out her new bed and sends tailwags and kisses on behalf of all our happy dogs!.

Certificate of Appreciation
Clarenville Area SPCA president Vanda Dove presented Mrs. Roberta Mercer with a Certificate of Appreciation for being a long-time supporter of animal care.
Mrs. Mercer was supporting the cause for animals even before the shelter was in existence. In the 1960’s when she was a practicing nurse, Mrs. Mercer used to give animals shots at her home before any vets were in Clarenville. Her support for the animals and specifically the SPCA has been going on for decades!
Through her proceeds from the sale of knitted goods, monetary donations, ticket drives, cookbook sales, and bake sale donations, she has contributed greatly to the success of the Clarenville Area SPCA.
While presenting Mrs. Mercer with the Certificate, she said that Mercer's Marine Equipment Ltd. chose the SPCA as their charity of choice for their annual Christmas Donation and presented the SPCA with a cheque!
What amazing support from our local businesses. Thank you so much!
